Recruiting for the Liturgy Committee Over the next few weeks, names will be accepted for membership in the new Liturgy Committee. After praying on it, if you feel called and inclined to be part of this important parish committee, please give your name to Deacon David or Father Thomas. As the name implies, this committee’s main purpose is to focus on our Liturgy, not only the weekend Eucharist but other forms of liturgical celebration of our parish. The main areas of our focus relate to Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, musicians and canters, the physical church environment (seasonal color changes, flowers, other worship enhancements), upcoming events in the Church calendar and the like. We need representation for all the ministries and areas of interest. Once things get established, the expectation will be to meet quarterly so as to look forward and prepare for the needs of the upcoming few months. Thank you, in advance, for stepping up and helping to improve our worship.

The solemnity of the Assumption celebrates the Blessed Mother’s entrance into heavenly glory. The Catechism explains that Mary “was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son’s Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of His Body”. Mary’s Assumption into heaven reminds us that life on earth is a pilgrimage to our ultimate destination. We prepare in hope for our own passage into eternal life by the choices we make today. When we choose to love and follow God in our daily lives, we strengthen our relation with Him, and this relationship is the true meaning of heaven: “to live in heaven is ‘to be with Christ’.”
